Tuesday started with a trip to the dentist - who told me my teeth are fine, no need to do anything except go out and enjoy the beautiful day. The trip across the Bosporus was pure Istanbul -sparkling blue water, laughing seagulls, fishing boats, ferry boats, big rusty ships.
First stop was Rüstem Pasha mosque, which unfortunately is closed for renovations for at least 3 years. :( We did a little shopping to cope with our disappointment.
Next - lunch.
Absolutely delicious. My kebab sat on a bed of thin crunchy potato sticks - so good.
After lunch we wandered around Karaköy. Over the last 5 years this port neighborhood has really changed - now there are charming cafes and little artist studios next to the stores selling Helly Hansen foul weather gear and commercial fishing supplies.
The smell of freshly baked simit drew us around the corner just in time to see a delivery of wood for the oven.
What! No Crown?
